“Cars and Restaurants” Yoel Romero reveals incredible hospitality offered by Conor McGregor while in Ireland for Bellator 285

Romero thanks Mcgregor for the hospitality he's shown in Dublin

Conor McGregor has long since held a deep appreciation for Yoel Romero. Despite the massive age difference between the two, both of them started their UFC career and subsequent rise up the rankings in 2013 around the same time. In fact Yoel and Conor have featured on at least three cards together.

Even during McGregor’s featherweight days, he took out the time to pose for pictures with Romero who reciprocated the warm reception. Moreover, Romero may be among the few fighters Conor has never trashed on his social media. Hence it is no surprise that when Yoel is in Conor’s home of Ireland, he will be taken care of.

Romero is currently in Dublin for his fight against Melvin Manhoef for Bellator 285. During today’s media scrum, Romero revealed that he had received warm gestures of hospitality while in Ireland from none other than McGregor.

“One of the things that I wanna say about Conor is he’s been looking out for me while here in Ireland and everything he’s done for me and he’s kinda given me a heads up in what is needed to be here in Ireland”, said Romero about the hospitality show by Conor. He also thanked Conor for offering Romero cars, training facilities and even his own restaurant for Romero to use when he’s in Ireland, services that Romero said he’d avail after the fight.

McGregor most likely would not be present at the event as he’s never attended a Bellator event after the time he assaulted a referee during one show. Moreover, he is currently not present in Ireland to support his friend Yoel, as he is in the Dominican Republic on vacation- camp hybrid arrangement of sorts.

Earlier this year McGregor revealed that he was always impressed by Yoel and his fighting abilities writing on Twitter, “The craftiness of Yoel has always been incredible to watch! I am modeling the second half of my career off of this mad Cubano.”

Notably Romero was among the few fighters who hadn’t turned on McGregor after the bus incident at UFC 223 media day. Romero asked that instead of judging Conor, they out to help him. “The most important thing is Conor doesn’t do it again”, said the Cuban back in 2018 when asked to comment on the matter.
