In November of last year, Adesanya lost his title to Pereira, which was his first defeat in the UFC after winning 12 middleweight fights. This was also the third time that Adesanya had lost to the Brazilian. However, this time, he was not ready to make a mistake that actually got the attention of the Twitter audience and MMA.

At UFC 287, Israel Adesanya managed to drop Pereira with two right-hand punches and take back his belt. Eventually, this victory solidified his legacy as one of the best fighters in the history of the sport. After getting his belt not just Israel but also other fighters like Conor Mcgregor, and Khamzat Chimaev were amazed.

During the second round of the fight, Alex Pereira (with a record of 7-2) managed to land a knee that pushed Adesanya (with a record of 24-2) into the cage. However, Adesanya quickly recovered and retaliated with two right hooks, a right hammer fist, and ground and pound to win the fight at 4:21.

He joined the UFC in 2018 and won the middleweight belt a year later with a stunning knockout victory over then-champion Robert Whittaker. Adesanya went on to successfully defend his title five times, becoming one of the sport’s biggest stars. However, on weigh-in, he was in an unfamiliar position as the challenger.

The main event at UFC 287 delivered one of the most brutal knockouts in the history of the UFC. In the opening round, both fighters had their moments. But in the second round, Alex Pereira went almost berserk at Israel Adesanya with some powerful low kicks.

Israel Adesanya was able to counter these with a massive right-hand punch that rocked Pereira. Then the second right-hand punch knocked Pereira down, and a hammer fist left him unconscious. Pereira had defeated Adesanya twice in kickboxing before scoring a TKO victory at UFC 281 in November. So this fight was going more of a revenge fight for Adesanya.
