Robert Whittaker promises to reclaim the middleweight strap as Israel Adesanya rematch is finalized
Israel Adesanya will taje on Robert Whittaker in UFC 271 in February
Robert Whittaker and Israel “Stylebender” Adesanya will be fighting very soon in the octagon and Whittaker will now get a chance at getting revenge on his old rival Adesanya. The fight is fixed just after two years of their old outing which was record-breaking in all senses.
The Nigerian, Adesanya will defend his belt against Kiwi-Australian superstar, Whittaker. The fight will take place as the main event of the UFC 271 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on February 13.
Adesanya has an amazing record of 21-1 and Whittaker has a pretty decent record too, of 23-5. The fight was confirmed during the broadcast of the ongoing UFC 269. The rivalry started back in 2019 when Adesanya took out Whittaker in a smooth action to bag the middleweight division title from him.
Since his victory and being crowned the champion, Adesanya was challenged multiple times for the title. He retained the title against Yoel Romero, Paolo Costa, and Marvin Vettori, and all that was a piece of cake for him. The only loss that Adesanya suffered was against the then light-heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz in March last year.
Since his loss to Adesanya, Robert Whittaker has won three consecutive games. Out of his last 13 games, he was the undisputed champ of 12 of them, the only loss coming against Adesanya. Robert Whittaker became the UFC midweight champion by defeating Yoel Romero in the UFC 213 in July 2017 and since then, was crowned the unchallenged champion.

“A big thing is because I can’t control where I go, a big part of my approach to it is just being grateful for the little things, So, if it’s in Houston, whilst it’s a far leg away and I have to leave my family for a little bit, but I’ve never been to Houston, so that should be fun,” he commented.
