Ronaldo Souza has announced retirement
MMA veteran Ronaldo Souza has decided to hang up his gloves from the sport of MMA. The Brazilian is a long-time fighter and a prolific submission grappler.
Ronaldo Souza is a former Strikeforce middleweight champion and also a long-time middleweight contender in the UFC. He announced on Tuesday night that he will no longer compete in the sport of MMA and will dedicate his life to the art of Jiu-Jitsu. Ronald’s last fight was against middleweight prospect, Andre Muniz at UFC 262. Unfortunately, he could not end his career on a high as he lost via submission in the very first round.
Souza announced his retirement to the MMA news outlet Combate. Though Souza has had a lot of highs in his career, the ending to his wonderful journey has not been the best. His loss against Muniz added to his four-fight losing streak. The fighter has always been a big name in his career and also being very dominant during his prime. “Jacare” is now 41 years old as he hangs his gloves.

Ronaldo Souza is a very highly regarded grappler on the biggest stage. He has an amazing record of 26-10-0 with one no contest in his professional career. He has had some amazing wins in his career against the biggest of names in the sport. His most prolific wins are against Vitor Belfort, Chris Weidman, Robbie Lawler, Derek Brunson, and Gegard Mousasi.
But his biggest moment in his came when he was fighting under the Strikeforce banner. Souza fought for the vacant middleweight title in 2010. The bout was set up between Tim Kennedy and Ronaldo Souza for the title and he went on to become the middleweight champion.
