“He could have died, for sure!” Teofimo Lopez’s careless behavior causes outcry amongst fans and doctors

Lopez could have lost more than just his titles!

In his recent loss to George Kambosos Jr., Teofimo Lopez got lucky by losing only his winning streak and belts. According to doctors, he could have lost more than just the titles, and how he was still standing on his feet after the match is still a mystery to the medical field.

Teofimo took on Kambosos Jr. last weekend and he staked his belts and his winning streak and also his life supposedly, as per doctors’ findings. He was experiencing a shortage of breath and lack of oxygen before his weigh-ins, according to a report by ESPN Daily. When asked why he did not report the symptoms to the health division, Lopez’s answer will shock you!

“I fought through asthma before. If I told everybody, they would’ve canceled the fight. But I chose not to, because of the amount of pressure I was under. I didn’t want to hear people say, ‘Oh, another postponement.’” Lopez said later on in an interview.

This rash decision turned out to be the worst decision, as Lopez was forced to fight on a sub-par level because of a diaphragm puncture that resulted in not only his loss but also nearly forced him through the gates of death.

“He’s lucky he’s not dead,” said Dr. Peter Constantino, executive director of the New York Head and Neck Institute. “I mean, really lucky.” The loss does seem unfair for Lopez as he himself stated later on, “That was not me in there Saturday night”.
