“The guys at 185 blocked me,” Kevin Holland reveals hilarious reason for moving to welterweight

Kevin Holland talks about moving to 170

Kevin Holland might be losing some weight for his future fights but he is not losing any of his funny personality.

One of UFC’s most entertaining fighters, Kevin Holland decided to spice things up in his fighting career and drop down to the welterweight division. The natural middleweight fighter believes he was going in too light for the 185 division when his opponents turned up heavier than him putting the “Trailblazer” at disadvantage.

Kevin decided to move down a weight class to the 170-pound division and contest his future battles there. Holland is all set to take on his first fight in welterweight against another exciting fighter, Alex Oliveira. In the recent episode of MMA Hour, Kevin talks about what made him drop down to the welterweight division.

“Vettori blocked me. He couldn’t take the banter. Paulo Costa blocked me too. That’s probably why I went to 170. All the guys at 185 blocked me, so I was like f**k it, I’m just gonna go to 170. I need some people to pick on,” said Kevin “Big Mouth” Holland joking about his new weight division.

Kevin was the “Fighter of The Year” in 2020 where he went on to win five fights. In the five fights, Holland managed to finish four of his opponents and won one by decision. However, in 2021, his career experienced a major dip when he went on to go three fights with no wins. Holland took on the likes of top contenders, Marvin Vettori, Derek Brunson, and Chris Daukaus. He ended up losing two of those three fights, while one was called a “No Contest”.

Many agree that Kevin could find more success in the welterweight division due to the weight advantage. What do you think about the “Trailblazer” move to the 170-pound division?
