Tyron Woodley lost the rematch with Jake Paul today, making it his second loss in a row against Paul. This loss would have especially hurt him more as he was all confident and pumped up about making Paul eat it. Woodley carried on throughout the bout at a good pace and even injured Paul till he bled, but then, he made a disastrous mistake.
In the middle of the 6th round, after they were done grappling and clinching for the n-th time, Jake Paul found a window to slam a well-timed right hook into Woodley’s face. Woodley, even when he saw the obvious hook coming at him, dropped his defending hand, and took the full impact of the punch right to his face, which knocked him out cold.
In the post-fight post-conference with Showtime Sports, Tyron Woodley commented on his performance. He said, “I fight for my kids and my family. I told you guys I was in shape, I told you guys I was ready to fight, and I told you guys I was in better shape than he was. So, I did that tonight and went back and looked at it and thought “Why the f**k did I drop my hands?” I was ready, I had both my hands up and I was expecting the overhand.”
He continued on the confusion, saying, “ I knew he was gonna delay the punch. But even if he delayed it, I was ready for it. Even if he didn’t delay I don’t know why I dropped my guard. In this sport, it takes only one mistake, just one mistake, I blocked so many of his shots.”
