The main event of the UFC Vegas 27 was the bantamweight scrap between the former champ Cody Garbrandt (12-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) and Rob Font (18-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC), and Rob Font secured the unanimous decision victory over Garbrandt.

Round 1: Cody and Rob both acquired the center of the octagon and took some time to find that striking range, Cody starts with some nice kicks but Rob fired back with his signature crisp jab, his 1-2 combination hurt Cody but Cody secures a couple of takedowns to finish the round strong.

Round 2: Rob Font pushed forward but got taken down right away, Cody landed some nice shots on the ground but Rob grabs a tight Kimura but Cody scrambles and gets right back up, Rob pushes forward and keeps landing that jab Cody tries a couple more takedown but got stuffed both times.

Round 3: Rob once again moves forward and he keeps on doing damage with his punches, Cody tries to counter but couldn’t land anything significant, he again goes for a couple of takedowns but Rob avoids both of them, just as the round was ending Cody seemed frustrated enough and tries to swing hard, but he recollects himself and lands some nice hooks.

Round 4: Rob is just dominating the fight at this point, everything works behind that jab and everything is landing. Cody tries to counter but he isnt finding any success, Rob keeps on working with that jab and Cody’s face is a mess at this point, Rob starts to land some big combinations and he lands a big head kick but Cody just ate it.

Round 5: Probably the most competitive round of the fight, Cody was looking for a knockout at the starting of the round and he moved forward with some heavy shots but nothing that would earn him the knockout, Rob stands his ground and lands some amazing combinations, he hurt Cody with his boxing combinations, and he finished the round strong.

Result: Rob Font def. Garbrandt via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 23 (48-47, 50-45, 50-45)
