“I have to stop that man so that’s the only thing that counts for me,” Jairzinho Rozenstruik is looking for redemption at UFC Vegas 28

Jairzinho Rozenstruik

The UFC Heavyweight fighter and number 6th ranked contender, Jairzinho Rozenstruik will be entering the Octagon at UFC Vegas 28’s main event to face the number 10th ranked Heavyweight fighter, Augusto Sakai.

Rozenstruik is the record holder for the fastest KO in UFC Heavyweight division history, and his opponent Sakai hasn’t faced any big name in the division until now. Still ‘Bigi Boy’ isn’t taking his opponent lightly.

In his recent interview with SCMP, Jairzinho Rozenstruik says, “We are in the top 15, top 10, All of us are badass. Everybody is going there to do his best. I put the pressure on myself. I have something to get straight so I want to get the ‘W’. Doesn’t matter how.”

‘Bigi Boy’ is coming in this fight with a unanimous decision loss against Ciryl Gane. This fight was completely opposite to the kind of fights these Heavyweight are up to. Talking about it Rozenstruik says,

“I’m going to be aggressive. Do all I can to win. I have to stop that man so that’s the only thing that counts for me. This [the Gane fight] is not my style, not my way of fighting.” {H/T SCMP MMA}

“I have to erase it. You cannot erase it, like, literally. But put down a crazy performance, make people know ‘all right, now he’s there again and we can still believe in him’. That’s what I’m going for.”

He continued, “A performance like that from me is worse, I could not get loose. The fight for me was really bad. If you lose in something it isn’t good.” {H/T SCMP MMA}

“I don’t want to say anything, ‘because of that, because of this’. I went into the Octagon to do my thing. It didn’t go my way. So it was a really bad day for me. You can’t change it, so we go back to the drawing board with the team and work on it.”

Jairzinho Rozenstruik rises quickly in the UFC Heavyweight division rankings by winning four consecutive fights in the year 2020, including his win against former title contender Alistair Overeem.

But in his first fight of 2020, against Francis Ngannou, he faced a first-round TKO loss. After that in his last fight against Ciryl Gane, he faced one more loss. Even after facing a couple of losses, the aim is still the same for Rozenstruik, to wrap the UFC gold around his waist.

Rozenstruik added, “It’s crazy but the only thing I do is take some time for myself, I’m the only one who can change it. So just train hard. Try to look at the camp, how things go, maybe see what went wrong. And you analyse it and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

“The first couple of days I was really on myself. I didn’t want to talk to no one. Watched the fight over and over again. I see mistakes. See what I could’ve done. That is the motivation part because when you see something, you will not let that happen again.” {H/T SCMP MMA}
