Spiderman, a hero who overcomes several adversities is not only an inspiration to kids but adults as well and surprise surprise one of them happens to be Anderson Silva. Kinda fitting that a UFC GOAT is likened to a superhero.
In a recent Instagram reel, the Spider was seen portraying Marvel’s Superhero, Spiderman. The montage starts with the beloved character punching the classic DC Duo, Batman and Robin. Cut to the next scene, it is revealed that Spiderman is none other than UFC Legend Anderson Silva. Now this is definitely peak humor.
The Brazilian fighter’s nickname has a unique origin story. Popularly known as the Spider, several people believed that Anderson got the name due to his entertaining and outstanding fighting style. That isn’t the actual picture.
Anderson explained in an interview what actually made him adopt his name. Before a fight that happened a while ago, an announcer commented on how Silva looked like the Superhero pictured on his t-shirt. To his astonishment, she even goes on to introduce him as Brazil’s Spiderman. The rest we know is history.
Anderson Silva’s latest venture in combat sports
Anderson, who holds the longest title reign in UFC History, parted ways with UFC after having underperformed in his last fights and the UFC not renewing his contract. The Spider however still had some juice left in him but sadly everyone saw him as a washed up fighter.
Fortune smiled on him when he got a chance to return to the boxing ring to square of against Julio César Chávez Jr. Despite maintaining his pace while throwing extremely slick combos, Anderson won with a split decision with the judges scoring the fight 77-75, 77-75, 75-77. Thus Anderson “Spider” Silva reminded the world that despite his rough patch he will always be an MMA legend.
