What is Islam Makhachev’s MMA record? Has the Dagestani ever lost a fight in UFC?
Islam Makhachev
Islam Makhachev is undoubtedly one of the top fighters in the UFC lightweight division. The Dagestani will be headlining his very first main event fight against Thiago Moises.
Islam Makhachev and Thiago Moises are set to take on each other in the main event of UFC on ESPN 26 this weekend. This is the first main event fight for both these lightweights. Islam has been compared to his teammate Khabib Nurmagomedov all his life and this weekend is his chance to prove he is the top fighter people believe he is. He is riding on a seven-fight winning streak and is very confident that he will make it eight. He is coming off a terrific win against MMA veteran Drew Dober at UFC 259.
Makhachev has a record of 19-1-0 in his career. With only one loss. He has wins against notable names such as Drew Dober, Gleison Tibau, and Nik Lentz. Despite his amazing performances over the years, the Russian has not been able to get hold of a top-ranked fighter. He believes that a win against Moises would make sure he fights a top 5 lightweight.
Islam Makhachev’s only loss in his MMA career
In his 6 years spent in the UFC, Makhachev has been stopped only once. In fact, that has been the only loss in his professional MMA career. This defeat came in the second bout under the UFC banner. Islam was matched with lightweight Adriano Martins at UFC 192. He was finished by Martins in the very first round. If not for that loss, Islam would have a clean record just like his teammate Khabib.
Makhachev was knocked out in the very first round in under two minutes. Islam acted as the aggressor in the fight and came on to Adriano. A left hand landed by Islam was countered by his opponents with his very own which dropped Makhachev to the floor. The referee had to intervene to make sure Adriano didn’t land a flurry of punches following that stunner. Do you think Thiago Moises can stop Islam Makhachev?
