Brock Lesnar is one of the most accomplished combat sports athletes of all time. His excellent record as an amateur wrestler, a stellar career in the WWE, and winning the UFC heavyweight title will put him in a league of his own. Lesnar had a scary presence during his tenure in the UFC. It even led him to shove a police officer aside while he entered UFC 121. Brock Lesnar’s walkout at UFC 121 became a legendary moment in history.
UFC events will have law enforcement officials to ensure the safety and security of the fighters. Lesnar’s entrance to the cage has an intimidating presence. During his entrance at UFC 121, Brock Lesnar sported a mustache, beard, and a beanie to walk to the cage. Lesnar’s focus and stoicism made him super scary for the viewers. Even the police officer did not do anything after getting shoved by Lesnar.
Despite the grand entrance, Lesnar did not secure the victory at UFC 121. He lost to Cain Velasquez via TKO in the first round. Velasquez, in his prime, was a dominant fighter. He had endless cardio, durability, and wrestling skills to overcome anyone. At that point, Lesnar had too many injuries and was not in his prime condition. Even then, Lesnar put up a fight taking Velasquez down, but Velasquez was just better at that point.
Fans always wondered how a fight between Prime Lesnar and Prime Velasquez would go. Unfortunately, the sport of MMA remains brutal in giving such fights to the fans. Lesnar fought once more in the UFC after his fight with Cain and then returned to the UFC. On the other hand, Cain embarked on his legendary trilogy against Junior dos Santos.
Brock Lesnar’s UFC 121 walkout ranks among the greatest entrance in the company’s history
In 2023, the UFC compiled a list of the greatest walkouts in the company’s history. Brock Lesnar’s walkout at UFC 121 was ranked 29th in history. The nearly 300-pound “Beast” had a walkout to remember.
Brock Lesnar deserves credit for the rise of the UFC in the late 2000s. Lesnar came from WWE and brought a massive audience with him. Before Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor took the sport to a global level, Lesnar laid the foundation for Rousey and McGregor to succeed.
His physique and dominant wrestling style made him a threat in the heavyweight division. Lesnar’s walkout in the WWE is a visual treat. However, this walkout at UFC 121 showed why Lesnar was a threat in the UFC. The list would have been incomplete if the UFC did not include a walkout of Lesnar in its top 30.
