Conor McGregor fought in Abu Dhabi, where he was the main event attraction of UFC 257. Max Holloway fought Calvin Kattar in a Fight Night event the same week. Conor McGregor got surprised during an interview when he saw Max Holloway roaming around on a skateboard in January 2021.

Conor McGregor and Max Holloway faced each other way back in 2013. Holloway was the only fighter who took McGregor to a decision during his featherweight run. During an interview in Abu Dhabi, McGregor said, That looked like Max Holloway going by on a skateboard there.” The interviewer confirmed that it was Holloway on the skateboard. McGregor was surprised by this unexpected encounter.

McGregor bursted out laughing. “It’s brilliant.”I was like, ‘what?’he said. ‘The Notorious’ had some words of praise for his former opponent. McGregor continued, “After that last performance he had – it was a phenomenal performance – you know. Me and Max went the distance. Max has never been dropped, you know…So, I’d love to go against Max again for sure.”

“I’ll tell you what: Max had a great fight this weekend, and he’s in the pipeline for sure. Me and Max will do it again. Look, I’m gonna do this rematch again. You know, you gotta go in and compete. If you’re not a competitor, bow down. Don’t be playing”. Obviously, the fight did not happen, but the two fighters continue hyping up a rematch on Twitter.

Conor McGregor will give Max Holloway his rematch before his retirement

Max Holloway defeated Arnold Allen in Kansas City. They headlined the main event, and Holloway won via unanimous decision. Holloway has been fighting for a long time and expressed his desire to rematch McGregor before retiring from the UFC. He said, “I would love to fight Conor. I was the only guy that took Conor to a decision at ’45.”

Conor McGregor and Max Holloway fought in 2013. McGregor’s featherweight run remains iconic for going undefeated in the division from 2013-15. McGregor finished all of his opponents except Holloway. He went on Twitter, responding to a tweet that brought up Holloway’s demand declaring“I’m never retiring so we defo fighting, lad.”

Holloway is open to facing McGregor in any weight class. In one of the interviews with Ariel Helwani after his fight, Holloway revealed, “He’s big right now. We’ll see what happens. I know he wants to come back but that would be a fight that would be super interesting, super fun.” Only time will tell if the former champions will fight each other again.
