The Denver Broncos have had their fair share of struggles so far this season. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix has taken some time to adapt to the NFL’s pace but is improving weekly.
As the team faces the Baltimore Ravens in the Week 9 matchup, the Broncos took a page out of the Detroit Lions’ playbook and ran a trick play. As Denver was at 4th and goal eager to score their first touchdown of the game, Sean Payton decided to switch things up with his offense.
As soon as the ball was snapped, Bo Nix handed it off to the running back, who ran to the left and immediately passed it to wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who quickly threw it off to Bo Nix. The rookie quarterback had run off to the right as soon as he handed the ball off and was in perfect position to make the catch.

The Denver Broncos took a huge risk with this play but it paid off
There was a lot that could have gone wrong in this play. The Ravens’ defense figured out that the Broncos were not going to run it right after Nix handed the ball off to the running back. Once the ball was handed to Sutton, he had to act quickly and had less than 1.5 seconds to make an accurate pass to Nix as he wound up getting tackled right after.
Fortunately, Sutton made a good pass and Bo Nix was able to stand in the endzone and jumped up to make the catch. with a defensive back right on his tail. The rookie quarterback caught his first touchdown in the NFL and celebrated it by emulating Rob Gronkowski’s legendary ball spike.
The 5-3 Denver Broncos trailed big to the Ravens at halftime. Baltimore played well with Lamar Jackson having thrown for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns and Derrick Henry scoring a rushing touchdown of his.
