BJJ expert, Craig Jones fought Brazilian BJJ champion, Gabi Garcia in an inter-gender clash. Due to the unique setting of the grappling match, the hype around it was massive. Jones put on an absolute show and defeated Garcia to become the first-ever inter-gender champion.

Ahead of the fight, Garcia and Jones got into a controversial start during their face-off. The two-time ADCC silver medalist decided to kiss the Brazilian during the staredown. This didn’t go well with Gabi who immediately called out Jones for crossing the line. 

Before the fight when they announced Jones’s name, the IBJJF world champion decided to enter the mat with style. Jones took a sip of alcohol before stripping himself to get fight-ready. It was truly an entertaining entrance that the fans appreciated.

In the fight, Jones took control from the beginning and kept the pressure throughout the fight. Garcia had her moments as she could defend herself from multiple submissions. However, Jones was skillful enough to hold his opponent in tough positions. 

In the second round, Jones took control of Garcia’s back and managed to tap her via a rear naked joke. After the fight, both fighters shook hands and mutual respect was quite evident. In the end, fans really liked the clash as both experts managed to entertain the crowd.

Fight fans react to Craig Jones choking out Gabi Garcia

Being one of the greatest female grapplers of all time, Garcia had teased intergender matchups in the past. She ultimately agreed to this one primarily out of respect for Craig Jones and the financial benefits.
