The Olympics is introducing flag football in the 2028 Olympic Games, to be held in Los Angeles, and it looks like the NFL has already begun preparing. Following the recent Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears game in London, United Kingdom, the NFL organized a flag football event on Tuesday.

Royalties graced the event as Prince William flaunted his skills in gridiron while playing with children from Manchester, London, and Birmingham, who participated in the event held at Kennington Park. The Jaguars’ wide receiver Louis Rees-Zammit and two-time Super Bowl champion Osi Umenyiora were also in attendance and utterly impressed by Prince William.

With his “unbelievable” throwing arm, he tried several football drills while challenging his “inner Shakira” as Phoebe Schecter, Captain of the GB Women’s Flag Football Team, advised him to, in reference to moving his hips to throw the ball.

Prince William tried the drills for the quarterback position, surrounded by children between the ages of 12 to 20 on the field hockey pitch. While receiving appreciation from the experts, the young participants also complimented his throw by saying, “What a throw,” as he let the first ball rip.

Since the NFL organizes regular season games in London at least once a year, the British Royalties have been quite supportive of it. In fact, Crown Prince of England revealed he used to play gridiron when he was younger and that’s why he learned to make the throw.

You can’t hide talent. He has it…I mean he was able to make a lot of throws and just come out here and just be willing to take part in all of this, which is the key.

Prince Williams was also gifted an American football for his children, upon which he gave some good parenting motto, saying never go home “empty-handed.” He also said that he would hone his skills at his home by playing with his three children, with a pinch of joke about smashing dozens of windows with it.

It was truly a successful event hosted by the NFL Foundations promoting flag football among teenagers. At present, nearly 60,000 children across 650 schools in the United Kingdom are playing this version of football and honing their skills before the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
