Jordan Addison found himself in a “dark place” after his run-in with the law last month. The wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings was arrested over suspicions of driving under the influence shortly after the demise of his teammate Khyree Jackson, who succumbed to his injuries after being involved in a car crash with a driver who was driving drunk.
He received a lot of criticism from the media for his negligence. But his coaches and teammates had his back. Recently, Jordan Addison was addressing the media and shared how they helped him get through his struggles.
I was surprised by the support that I received. I didn't think it was going to be how it was, but it was really important. I was in the dark place. I was feeling down, and they really uplifted me, uplifted me to come out here and just perform at a high level still.Jordan Addison said
The practice served as an escape for him. His teammates acknowledged and understood he needed their support, and rather than criticize him for his actions, they chose to push him and help him focus solely on football.
Jordan Addison has had enough time to introspect. As the legal process remains pending, the wide receiver is keeping his head down and hoping to have a better year than his rookie season.
Through everything that's going on, I'm going to put it behind me and I'm still going to still perform at a high level. Come out here give the fans what they pay for.Jordan Addison added
Addison put up 911 yards on 70 receptions and had 10 touchdowns for the Vikings in the 2023-24 season.
The NFL has not yet penalized Jordan Addison over his DUI arrest
Addison was found asleep behind the wheel of a Rolls Royce on the Interstate freeway near the LA Airport. The wideout’s car was blocking a lane of the route and after investigation, it was concluded that Addison was driving under the influence leading to his arrest.
Fortunately for him, he has not been formally charged in the Court. The legal process will take time and apart from the punishment imposed by the Court, there is the imminent threat of the NFL suspending him or penalizing him over the violation of the Personal Conduct Policy. The NFL is waiting and watching how the legal process plays out.
Addison understands that he risks facing legal repercussions. But he has accepted it as fate.
Whatever's out there for me, whatever comes with it, I'll own up to everything. I feel like anything that comes my way is meant to happen or is deserved.Jordan Addison said
This is not his first run-in with the law. In July 2023, Addison got in trouble after he drove 140mph on a Minnesota freeway and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge. He subsequently paid a $686 fine.
