The lawsuit filed by Janel Grant made several allegations of horrible crimes against Vince McMahon and other notable WWE figures. This led to the former boss being completely removed from WWE. McMahon and the promotion continue to fight a legal battle in court. However, recent developments have led to a temporary halt in the case proceedings.

As reported by Deadline, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York reported to the federal court that they have launched an investigation. This probe targets McMahon, the WWE, and the company’s former head of talent relations, John Laurinaitis.

This investigation means that the s*xual misconduct and trafficking allegations against the former WWE chairman won’t be tried in court at the moment, thanks to the Department of Justice. For those unaware, McMahon, Laurinaitis, and WWE are all co-defendants in the lawsuit.

Despite not being proven true yet, the lawsuit has still had major implications for McMahon’s life. He was forced to sever ties with his company and resign as Executive Chairman of the Board. His profile has been completely erased from WWE, and public perception of the public figure continues to drop rapidly.

Janel Grant‘s lawyer, Ann Callis, asserted that this move by the DOJ was significant enough to stop their case in its tracks. Hence, they went along with the Department of Justice’s request to put a hold on their lawsuit against the controversial figures and the WWE. They further agreed to cooperate with all future steps necessitated by the department.

Grant and Vince McMahon had seemingly come to an agreement in 2022. For a payout of $3 million, the plaintiff signed an NDA and kept the allegations from becoming public. However, she allegedly received only a third of this sum. This led to her coming out with her story, and her lawyers continued their attempt to get the NDA invalidated.

On the other hand, McMahon’s lawyers remained adamant that the case was completely fabricated. Laurinaitis and his legal team have also corroborated this claim. They claimed that this was simply a vindictive narrative by an ex-girlfriend to tarnish the wrestling legend’s legacy.
