Heading into the 2026-27 season, the most important aspect every Golden State Warriors fan is talking about is the health of its senior players: Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis and Jimmy Butler.
The latter is still recovering from the ACL tear he suffered last season. That is why the jury is still out on how he will perform as a 37-year-old in his 16th season. Since there is a while to go before he steps foot on the court, fans are thinking about how the team will hold up until he returns.
That means the onus will be on Green, Horford, and Curry to lead the charge along with their younger teammates. Green is generally known to be reliable. Horford might be the second-oldest player in the league, but generally stays away from the medical room.
That leaves Stephen Curry, arguably the greatest three-point shooter of all time, who also happens to be the offensive centerpiece of this team. Every Warriors fan knows what happened when he struggled with injuries in the past.
While the hope was that he would adjust his preparations to play it safe, there is only so much an athlete can do. Take, for instance, the final public scrimmage the team took part in at Chase Center, and fans were left with their hands over their heads.

That is because the two-time league MVP limped over to the sideline after a non-contact injury. Even Draymond Green followed his teammate to figure out how bad it was. After all, anything serious could derail their plans in the opening few games.
Steve Kerr confirms Stephen Curry is ‘fine’
The moment news of Stephen Curry limping away from an intra-team scrimmage reached social media, it was bound to go viral. Everyone taking stock of this upcoming season knows that the Warriors’ playoff hopes are pinned on how far the 38-year-old can lead them.

With last year’s standout performer, Moses Moody, and trade acquisition Kristaps Porzingis out, it will be difficult if the Davidson alum were to also miss games. That is why this was one of the first questions Steve Kerr faced when he started his media session.
He said he’s fine.

The head coach also nodded his head in agreement when another reporter asked whether it was Curry’s ankle. He shook his head to dismiss questions about the superstar point guard’s knee.

Ankle injuries can derail plans, particularly if they are too serious. But Stephen Curry letting his Kerr know that he was ‘fine’ is a good indication that he may be ready for their season-opening clash against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Draymond Green sums up how important Stephen Curry is to Warriors
Before the NBA season starts, Draymond Green invited WNBA Hall of Famer Sheryl Swoopes to talk about the WNBA Finals. When they delved into what the men’s side is going to look like, they started talking about the Houston Rockets.
After Swoopes, a Houston legend after her accomplishments with the Comets, stated that her team would be fine, the former NBA Defensive Player of the Year discussed how the return of Fred VanVleet was going to affect the Rockets. While discussing a point guard’s influence, Green said:
You pull the point guard off our team, we know what happens… You pull that guy off our team, everything crumbles.
Draymond Green said
Draymond on how he views the Rockets going into this season "Everybody tried to ignore it last year, but Fred VanVleet’s back, outside of KD, you pull the point guard out the equation, who’s also by the way, the leader of that team, that’s brutal!… you pull the point guard off our team, we know what happens, you pull that guy (Steph Curry) off our team, everything crumbles 😂😂😂… but you pull the point guard off most teams, it’s gonna get tough."

The two chuckled since they both knew what the state of the Warriors would be without the superstar point guard, that is, Stephen Curry. Without the 12-time All-Star, that team might not even be in the running to compete for a play-in spot.
