The year was 2019, and it was Ferrari‘s ninth race at their home ground without a single Grand Prix victory. The last time the Scuderia saw their driver win at Monza was when Fernando Alonso soared to the top spot in the rankings in 2010 with his masterful drive. 21-year-old Charles Leclerc, fresh from his resounding victory at the Belgian GP in Spa, qualified for the Italian GP in pole position. But his race towards to the top spot was threatened by some heavyweight rivals like Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.

A couple of years ago, the Mercedes pair of Hamilton and Bottas were dominating the F1 world with their superior speed. While Charles Leclerc started the Monza race from the front row, his position was threatened by the Silver Arrow of Hamilton. The then-five-time World Champion put in all his efforts to charge behind the Monegasque to surpass him. But Charles Leclerc stayed affixed to the leading spot in the grid for the first two-thirds of the race.

In the end, Lewis Hamilton’s used up tyres failed him and he fell behind. Valtteri Bottas seized the opportunity to push his Mercedes to overtake the Briton and thus he got the second place. And Charles Leclerc‘s Monza victory for Ferrari was received by the Tifosis with widespread celebrations. This time, as the 25-year-old is once again aiming for the same feat this weekend, he joined his fans to sing “Leclerc, bring us the Championship” while nodding his head.

Red Bull have dominated the entire 2023 F1 season till now with Max Verstappen equalling Sebastian Vettel‘s huge record of winning 9 races in a row. And Ferrari, on the other hand, have been no match for the Austrian outfit. Owing to this, Charles Leclerc has sent out a message to his followers, imploring them to stop expecting the Scuderia to win their home race this weekend.

But Charles Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz believes the Tifosi should keep their hopes high regardless of Ferrari’s current situation. The Spaniard, who joined the Maranello outfit last year, got his first Grand Prix win at Silverstone. And he is sure he will bring Ferrari their first victory of 2023 soon. Now, it remains to be seen if Carlos Sainz can act upon his promise to make the Tifosis proud or if Max manages to maintain his undefeated streak till the end of the season.
