David Warner departs for a golden duck courtesy of Khaya Zondo's one-handed stunner
Australia batter David Warner‘s bad form continues in the Test cricket. On the very first ball of Australia’s innings, South Africa spearhead Kagiso Rabada sent the opener to the pavilion owing to a stunning one-handed catch by Khaya Zondo at The Gabba on Saturday (December 17).
Warner faced the first ball of Australia’s innings delivered by Rabada. He pitched it short and it extracted some extra bounce. Warner attempted to block it but it hit the inside edge of the bat and flew over the short leg. Khaya reacted there quickly as he plucked the all out of thin air with one hand.

David Warner has just one 50+ score in last 10 innings in Test
Warner has only one half-century knock in his last 10 innings in Test cricket. It came against Pakistan in the first Test earlier this year. He scored his last Test century in 2020.
In his last 25 innings, he has scored just 675 runs at 28.18. He played 98 Test matches so far and scored 7919 runs at 46.04 with 24 centuries and 34 half-centuries.
The 36-year-old is one of the few players who is playing three formats of the game. Although, it’s no doubt he is one of the most destructive openers in white-ball cricket, his form in Test is criticized by many. Some even want him to retire from the longest format of cricket and the cricketer himself hinted at retiring from the format after the 2023 Ashes series.
However, teammate Usman Khawaja rubbished all the rumors of Warner retiring from Test cricket the next year. “Not even close,” Khawaja said on SEN Radio about Warner’s retirement.
“I think he’ll go on and he’s got plenty more to give, that thought hasn’t even crossed our mind if I’m being honest.” Khawaja showed faith in Warner saying, “Like himself and all of us do, we know he’s going to score runs at some stage.”
