Watch: Kyrie Irving SHOCKS Kylian Mbappé and entire stadium with MONSTER putback dunk

Kyrie Irving and Kylian Mbappé

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving has a knack for stunning the basketball world with his sweet handles; he makes his opponents seem like they are wearing skates. He can switch hands in the air, he is ambidextrous in the paint area, and he can shoot the lights out from any point on the floor. But on Monday, he did something no one saw coming, the Brooklyn Nets star made a putback one-handed slam against the San Antonio Spurs.

With around 9 minutes remaining in the second quarter against the San Antonio Spurs, the play took place. When Yuta Watanabe missed a jump shot at the foul line, Kyrie Irving sprinted uncontested into the lane and slammed the ball with force. The Nets fans and the entire NBA know that Irving can dunk the ball, but the putback dunks are among the hardest to execute. Seeing Kyrie do that, sent a shock wave to the Nets’ entire bench.

Perhaps Irving had saved the best play for the visiting soccer star Kylian Mbappé, who was sitting courtside. Mbappé lost to the great Lionel Messi in the World Cup Finals in December 2022. He became the only player in World Cup history to score a hat-trick in the Finals.

The biggest reaction, even better than fans and Mbappé came from the Brooklyn Nets bench. Kevin Durant, Nic Claxton, and the rest of the Nets’ bench exploded off their seats as Uncle Drew made the thunderous dunk. Perhaps, Durant’s reaction was best, he did not just look excited, he was genuinely shocked after the play. It’s good to see the Nets finally peaking up into the season and come together after early drama.

Bookly Nets defeated San Antonio Spurs 103-139. Perhaps it was a good night for Mbappé himself, watching two of the most gifted basketball players perform at the highest level. Leading the Nets’ offense, Irving scored 27 points. Former MVP Kevin Durant scored 25 points in just 28 minutes and shot 10 of 14 attempts from the field.

After an early slump in the season, and the Kyrie controversy in the background, the Nets ended their year on a good note. Before the end of the year, the Nets put together a 24-12 record, with 11 consecutive wins. The win against the Spurs is their 12th consecutive. However, the best news for the Nets is the focused Kyrie. So far into the season, He has averaged 26.2 points, 5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in 26 games. With a focused and healthy Kyrie, the sky is the limit for the Nets.
