The 2024 Hungarian GP was seen with another drama involving Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Verstappen crashed into Lewis Hamilton’s car while overtaking him at turn 2 of the Hungaroring. The race ended with Oscar Piastri clinching his first even victory with teammate Lando Norris in second place.

Max Verstappen reckoned it was not his fault where he crashed into Lewis Hamilton. However, race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase told the 26-year-old that it was clearly his fault, and denied to argue further over the situation. Lewis Hamilton and tried to cooldown the situation post race, a video was circulated throughout the social media which highlights Hamilton pats Verstappen’s back. The seven-time-world champion expressions didn’t seem much alright, however it can’t be assumed what they’ve talked about.

Max Verstappen was clearly frustrated, as starting from third on the grid and finishing fifth was not something he expected. Once again, this race added to his disappointment after Austria, where his performance wasn’t at its peak. The dynamics changed during the race, causing Verstappen to drop from third to fifth place, marking another disappointing run for Red Bull and Verstappen.

Max Verstappen claims Hungarian GP as a really bad race

Max Verstappen highlighted that the Hungarian GP was a terrible race for him and the team. He stated everything went wrong for them during the race, particularly the strategy. He highlighted that overtaking on this track was very difficult, and that’s what he spent most of his time trying to do. The Dutchman also mentioned that the car’s pace was not good, as he struggled to keep up with the McLarens ahead of him.

Verstappen shared his frustration about the communication with his team during the race. He mentioned that he received unhelpful comments over the radio. Instead of discussing the issues with him and possibly admitting that the strategy wasn’t ideal, which could have helped calm him down. They continued to argue against him. This added to his frustration and made the situation worse. The Dutchman felt that better communication and acknowledgment of the problems could have helped him regain his position.

Certainly, Max Verstappen was not at all happy with the performance and car he raced at the Hungarian GP. He and the team radio also had arguments over the crash, where Verstappen expected to receive help instead of blame. Fans were disappointed by Red Bull’s consecutive poor performances, fearing McLaren’s Lando Norris might soon match Verstappen in driver standings.
