In the main event of SmackDown last Friday, Jimmy Uso and Cody Rhodes suffered a loss against Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga. Rhodes had to leave mid-match to brawl with Kevin Owens, which allowed Fatu to stamp his dominance over Jimmy and get the pinfall.
Owens and Rhodes re-emerged during the dying minutes of the show, swinging at each other in the technical area. At the end, The American Nightmare drove his arch-nemesis through a table. But there’s something that only those in attendance got to witness.
In a clip posted by WWE on Instagram, Cody could be seen checking on Paul Heyman, with Jimmy yelling at the camera, captioned “unpredictable alliance.” The Wise Man opened the night in high spirits as Roman Reigns had won the Ula Fala back from Solo Sikoa. Paul even confirmed that The OTC will enter the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble match.
By the end of his promo, Heyman was being measured by Tonga and Fatu, who were about to lay him out. However, Jimmy Uso came out to make the save. Using the numbers to their advantage, the new Bloodline members soon nullified Uso.
When they were about to destroy him with a steel chair, Cody came running down to even the odds. The Undisputed WWE Champion knocked Jacob over the top rope to bail out ‘Big Jim’ from the trenches. Just when it appeared like Rhodes was done with the Bloodline business, he’s right back into it.
Heyman did warn him about Roman’s intentions of getting that world title off him soon. For now, Cody needs to focus on defending his title against Kevin Owens in a ladder match at the Royal Rumble.
Has The Rock really gotten over his issues with Cody Rhodes?
Everyone saw how The Rock acknowledged Cody Rhodes on the Netflix premiere of Raw. It piqued the fans to see them laughing around as if nothing had transpired between them in previous months.
It now seems like their story might actually be over. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful posted on X about it. He gave an update on what Rock and Cody had apparently filmed during the Moana 2 premiere, saying it was meant to squash their beef. And after their interaction on Raw last Monday, that purpose was served.
Hence, the content they filmed may never be aired for the fans in general. With The Great One no longer in contention for Cody’s Undisputed title, WWE has penciled in John Cena for that spot.
