The 2024 Hungarian GP came to an end with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri clinching his first ever victory. However, on the other side Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went wheel-to-wheel and Verstappen ended up crashing into him. This resulted in losing position to Charles Leclerc who was behind.

Max Verstappen tried overtaking Lewis Hamilton at turn 2 of the Hungaroring. The Dutchman tried attacking Hamilton from the back and ended up crashing his own car. Lewis Hamilton forced him to the outside by breaking much early. Verstappen felt the Briton didn’t leave enough space for him to make a move safely. The Dutchman asked his race engineer whether Hamilton should’ve left a car’s width. Gianpiero Lambiase stated that Verstappen was behind the seven-time-world champion at the apex of the turn.

We think you were behind at the apex, mate.
Gianpiero Lambiase said.

Max Verstappen responded in a blunt way to his race engineer with “Ok. Whatever “. This highlighted Verstappen’s frustration during this wheel-to-wheel incident which affected his race. Verstappen qualified the Hungarian GP at third place, but following this incident he ended up losing that position.

Max Verstappen exchanged words with race engineer over Hungarian GP incident

Max Verstappen believed the incident where he crashed into Hamilton’s car, was not his fault as he thought the Briton moved into the braking zone. Race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase clearly stated it was Verstappen’s fault and argued that they’re not going to argue further with other teams. It was clearly Verstappen’s mistake, so Red Bull wanted to avoid getting caught up in the disputes.

I'm not even going to get into a radio fight with the other teams, Max.
Gianpiero Lambiase stated.

GP told Max Verstappen that, instead of fighting on radio they should let the official stewards handle the situation. He emphasized that arguing on team radio seemed immature and claimed it as childish behavior. Red bull ended the race in fifth position which was not expected at the start.

We'll let the stewards do their thing. It's childish on the radio, childish.
Gianpiero Lambiase said.

Certainly, It was another unexpected race for Max Verstappen where he was close to winning and suddenly circumstances changed. The race was similar to the Austrian GP where Lando Norris and him got into a collision and disrupted their race. It was not a good weekend for the Milton Keynes at Budapest with only 16 points in their pockets.
