UFC veteran Dustin Poirier had one of the most decorated careers in the UFC. With a career that spanned almost 15 years, Poirier defeated many warriors and former champions during his stint in the promotion. However, the ‘Diamond ultimately retired at UFC 318 in July 2025, marking an end to his illustrious career. His wife, Jolie Poirier, recently shared a video of the former interim champion on Instagram.

Poirier completed his trilogy against BMF champion Max Holloway at UFC 318 and announced his retirement by laying his gloves down after the unanimous decision loss to Holloway. However, it looks like the ‘Diamond’ has kept himself busy after retirement. His wife shared a video of him putting up a sign that reads “Silly Goose Fitness Club” on the wall of what appears to be his homemade gym.

No, seriously, @ufc take him back @dustinpoirier can’t be left unsupervised.

Poirier himself posted a photo of the finished sign shortly after. The Louisiana-born fighter has numerous businesses to keep him busy after retirement. Most notably, Poirier has endorsed his ‘Poirier’s Louisiana Style’ hot sauce brand. He is also the owner of a CBD Oil company known as ‘Reap CBD’. Despite his businesses, Poirier is also a well-known contributor to his charity, the ‘Good Fight Foundation’.

The ‘Diamond’ met his wife in middle school and has been married to her since before he started competing in the UFC. The couple shares a daughter who was born in 2016. ‘Ms Poirier’ has often been caught in the crossfire during her husband’s rivalries, most notably against Conor McGregor. However, she has not been afraid to give back and support her husband at all times.

Poirier never won undisputed championship gold in his career. He defeated Holloway in their second fight in 2019 to earn the interim championship. However, it was in vain as he failed to beat Khabib Nurmagomedov in his attempt to unify the titles. He challenged Charles Oliveira in 2021 but lost again via submission. His last shot at the title came against Islam Makhachev at UFC 302 in 2024.

Poirier’s career can be defined as the story of persistence, resilience, and evolution inside the octagon. From his early days as a brawler in the featherweight division to becoming a polished and well-rounded lightweight contender. The Louisiana native consistently fought the best in the world and never shied away from challenges.

Poirier ironically retired in his hometown of Louisiana at the Smoothie King Center in front of a supportive home-state crowd. The ‘Diamond’ battled through a grueling five-round contest, ultimately falling to Holloway by unanimous decision. However, the bout showcased the heart and resilience that have defined Poirier’s career, as he traded blows with one of the best boxers in the UFC.

Poirier spoke out on his retirement fight in an interview with MMA Junkie. While he disagreed with the judges’ scorecards, believing the battle was much closer than the final scoring suggested, Poirier emphasized that his strategic choice to clinch in the final seconds was driven by both emotion and self-preservation.

I never really fought like that before. I would usually put myself in harm’s way to land the big shots, and in this one, I didn’t. Maybe that’s a sign that the decision I made (retirement) was the right one.
