WT20 Challenge Trailblazers vs Supernovas: Supernovas defeat Trailblazers in a thriller to set up summit clash against same side

The Supernovas secured a crucial win over the Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge to set up a final against the same team. The Supernovas were right on top from the beginning as Chamari Athapaththu began in brisk fashion. The Sri Lankan played a match-winning knock of 67 runs. Although there was a falter from the Supernovas middle order, they managed to get to a score of 146.
In the chase, the Trailblazers could not get any sort of rhythm going. They were behind in terms of the required rate except in the beginning when Deandra Dottin began in a promising manner. However, Deepti Sharma and Harleen Deol brought them roaring back into the game. In the end, the Trailblazers fell short 2 by runs. The finals will now between the same two teams and will take place on the 9th of November.
Chamari Athapaththu guides Supernovas to 146

Having opted to bat, Supernovas got off to an excellent start. Chamari Athapaththu was aggressive from the start while her partner Priya Punia as patient. The duo put on an 89-run partnership. The Supernovas were looking good for 160 with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur joining Athapaththu.
However, Harleen Deol‘s dismissal of Athpaththu proved to be a turning point as the runs dried up a bit after that. The fact that the Supernovas were involved in three run-outs didn’t help their cause either. In the end they got to a competitive total of 146.
Trailblazers falter in chase but come close

In the chase, Trailblazers began with intent as in-form Deandra Dottin struck a four and six off the very first over. However, the West Indian was dismissed by Shakera Selman. Selman also went on to dismiss Richa Ghosh. Skipper Smriti Mandhana tried to up the ante but could not accelerate as much as she wanted to. Following her wicket, the runs didn’t come easily for the Trailblazers.
The equation got stiffer and stiffer and following the wickets of Dayalan Hemalatha and Harleen Deol (who played a blinder of an innings) towards the end, the Trailblazers fell short by a mere 2 runs. Deepti Sharma‘s unbeaten 43 went in vain in the thriller. Radha Yadav was excellent in the final over with her accurate lines and lengths.
With the win, the Supernovas qualified for the finals of the Women’s T20 Challenge where they will face the same opponent Trailblazers. Velocity who were bowled out for 47 and thrashed by Trailblazers missed out on the finals.
The finals will take place in Sharjah on the 9th of November.
