WTA witnessed a significant change in rankings following the Palermo Open

The WTA Rankings came to life after months of inactivity. The officials had frozen the rankings during the COVID-19 pandemic to avoid unnecessary complications as tournaments got canceled. However, after the conclusion of the Palermo Open, normalcy returned and there were many players who gained many players.
Here is the list of some players who created the biggest impact on the rankings:
Camila Giorgi
The biggest gainer from Palermo Open is Camila Giorgi. The Italian reached the semifinals before losing out to the eventual champion Fiona Ferro. With her impressive run, she jumped 18 places to reach the 71st position. That can be a huge relief for her fans because she is a quality player and deserves to be in top-50.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich
The Belarusian came through the qualifiers and reached the quarterfinals before getting defeated by the top seed Petra Martic. In doing so she gained 15 places and now is at 104th position. The former World No.30 will look to continue her impressive run in the upcoming tournaments.
Fiona Ferro
Following her stupendous victory at the tournament, the Frenchwoman debuts in the top-50. She scored some big wins en route to her championship victory including the wins over local stars Camila Giorgi and Sara Errani.
She now sits at 44th position after gaining 9 places and is very close to her compatriot and the top ranked Frenchwoman, Kristina Mladenovic.
Other Beneficiaries
Other than the three women mentioned above, there were more players who got reward for their good play. Top seed at Palermo Open, Petra Martic, is set to jump to her career-best ranking at 14 despite faltering in the semifinals. Moreover, Annett Kontaveit of Estonia, who interestingly beat Martic in the semifinals is set to come at 20th position.
