Rhodes and Reigns

Roman Reigns cemented his place as one of the greatest of all times, a couple of days ago in what was touted as the “Greatest Wrestlemania Match of All Time”. After a brief break from the company, Reigns made his return to WWE at Summerslam 2020. Since then, he has turned heel and has only gone from strength to strength.

Adopting the character of The Tribal Chief, he aligned himself with Paul Heyman. He won the title way back at Payback 2020 and has been holding on to the Universal Championship for over 550 days now – which is an all-time record. Reigns has successfully defended his title against the likes of John Cena, Edge and Kevin Owens.

But his biggest challenge emerged in the form of Brock Lesnar. In the main event of Wrestlemania 38, Roman Reigns walked in with the Universal Championship, whereas Lesnar brought the WWE Championship with him, setting up the blockbuster clash. While it was a great match, but the ending ruined the hype – with Roman Reigns becoming the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

He was revealed as Seth Rollins’ mystery opponent – and managed to secure a win after a hard-fought 21-minute-long battle. The American Nightmare appeared on WWE’s The Bump, where he discussed the possibility of facing the Tribal Chief.

“When I left here, Roman Reigns was on top. And I think Roman Reigns was experiencing some of the negative byproduct of being on top. Some of the pushback that a new face, a new individual. But the thing that makes a champion in any company is consistency. And when he said Dallas, Texas, acknowledge me  and whether they’re supposed to boo, cheer, whatever it might be, and they acknowledged him,” mentioned Rhodes.
