Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre picks his favorite for the upcoming WWE Championship match

McIntyre wants Orton to become the WWE Champion

Drew McIntyre has announced his pick for the upcoming WWE Championship match between Randy Orton and Bobby Lashley. The match was initially scheduled to take place on WWE Extreme Rules. But WWE announced that two WWE Superstars couldn’t wait for that long and hence, it has been preponed to the upcoming episode of WWE Raw.

The upcoming episode of WWE Raw was earlier supposed to see Lashley and Orton in action but not for the WWE Championship, for the Raw Tag Team Championship instead. MVP and Lashley had won the Tag Team Turmoil match last week to earn a shot at the Raw Tag Team titles – currently held by Randy Orton and Riddle.

The Tag Team titles match has been pulled off the show, and the WWE Championship match will be taking place instead. Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre recently announced his pick to win the match.

“I want Randy Orton to win, obviously. I can’t fight for the WWE title until Lashley loses it. Randy is more than capable, all it’s gonna take is one RKO and the match is over. That’s my prediction!”, mentioned McIntyre. But at the same time – he even mentioned that MVP is going to interfere in the match and McIntyre has experienced that too.

Drew McIntyre cannot challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship

One of the key reasons Drew McIntyre will be rooting for Randy Orton is the fact that he will not be able to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE title. The feud between McIntyre and Lashley dates back to when The All Mighty One defeated The Miz to win the title.

Since then, McIntyre has been after Lashley for the title. But after three failed attempts – McIntyre is contractually not allowed to go after the WWE Championship, as long as Lashley holds it. If Orton manages to win the title, which will be his 15th, McIntyre can go after title.

The WWE Universe might even remember that it was Orton, who ended McIntyre’s first WWE Championship reign last year. Interestingly, McIntyre defeated Orton to begin his second reign as the Champion.
