On Sunday night, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson kicked off Super Bowl 2022 with a WWE-style promo to excite up both sides.
The Rock, who played football at the University of Miami and in the Canadian Football League, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity on social media. “Dreams ain’t only for dreamers Just taking a quiet, appreciative minute to express what a privilege it will be for me to stand on the sacred ground of the SUPER BOWL at SoFi Stadium TODAY,” he wrote on Instagram earlier in the day.

Johnson said, “My greatest ambition was to play in the National Football League and win a Super Bowl. I’d been working my tail off for years and knew I’d be able to make that ambition a reality. I failed, and none of it came to pass.” He spoke about both, Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals’ journey before completing his emotional speech by stating:
“It is time for all of us here and millions around the world to bear witness to these incredible players, who will leave every ounce of sweat, guts, pride and legacy upon this field because that is what champions do. Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honour to say, finally, it is time for the Super Bowl!”

As millions (and millions) of fans witnessed Super Bowl LVI, Johnson’s momentous on-field presence was trending on Twitter in the minutes leading up to and after the game’s kickoff. Fans went berserk as the People’s Champion showed up at Super Bowl and Twitter was full of emotions of WWE as well as NFL enthusiasts.
