WWE Extreme Rules is finally here. The PPV is known for being the one night where WWE goes Extreme. This is because the event used to feature several stipulation matches. Surprisingly, this year only one of the matches on the card has a stipulation. The Universal Championship match will have Extreme Rules stipulation.
Overall, there are going to be 6 matches on the card, and 5 of these are going to have Championships on the line. The only non-title match on the card is between Liv Morgan and Carmella. The match was a surprise addition to the card, and was added just a little over a week before the PPV.
Morgan and Carmella had no feud going on between them, but they were often seen appearing in segments together. Both of them, along with Bianca Belair and Zelina Vega were in line to challenge Becky Lynch for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. While Belair ended up earning that spot, and Carmella went on to form an alliance with Vega. Morgan sent a final warning to Carmella, ahead of their match.
On the penultimate episode of Smackdown, before WWE Extreme Rules, Liv Morgan had teamed up with Toni Storm to face Carmella and Zelina Vega. Carmella pretended that her nose was broken by Morgan, and just left the match! This frustrated Morgan and she challenged Carmella for a match at Extreme Rules.
A win at WWE Extreme Rules might push Liv Morgan to a title shot
A Championship shot for Liv Morgan has been long pending. She came close to earning a shot at the title, when she reached till the final two of the Fatal 4-Way match for the No.1 Contender for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
The title scene is currently being dominated by Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair. Sasha Banks is expected to return soon and she is expected to go after the title too. Liv Morgan could be an interesting addition to the mix. But things could take a surprising turn at the WWE Draft.
