“He better acknowledge me,” Roman Reigns has some stern words for Vince McMahon
Reigns and McMahon
Vince McMahon is the biggest name in the professional wrestling industry. There isn’t a man in the entire industry who could be as powerful as the CEO and Chairman of the biggest sports entertainment company in the world. He has been in the business for over four decades now and there aren’t many who know the business as well as him.
But there have been several instances when McMahon come under severe criticism for some of his segments, match results and even the treatment of Superstars. While the negative treatment Superstars have received from him is well documented, one thing that also needs to be acknowledged is the fact that McMahon shows immense love for some Superstars.
If some Superstar wins his trust, Vince McMahon will push the star extensively – just like Austin Theory is being pushed. John Cena, who was pushed as the face of the company for nearly a decade, is another prime example. Current Universal Champion Roman Reigns is also receiving a similar push since the last couple of years.
Roman Reigns has been extensively pushed since he returned to the company as a Heel. Currently he is involved in a feud with Seth Rollins, and is rumored to lose the title and enter Wrestlemania 38 as a challenger for Brock Lesnar’s WWE Championship. The Universal Champion recently appeared for an interview with SI Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina, where he discussed the possibility of Vince McMahon deciding that he should drop the title!
“That’s such a tricky question, I wouldn’t know how to like honestly explain what my mindset would be. I am the man, yeah! He better listen, you know what I am saying. He [Vince] better acknowledge me, you know like who else is there, right?” – mentioned Reigns.
Vince McMahon has been with WWE since early 1970s
Vince McMahon has been with the company since 1970. He had started as a commentator for the promotion, which was then owned by his father Vincent J. McMahon. The company was then known as WWWF. He purchased the company in 1982 and made it a global brand. For a major part of his tenure, McMahon had monopolized the industry.
Some competition had emerged in the form of World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling. But WWE purchased both the promotions. Over the years, WWE has started owning several subsidiaries. There have been rumors about the McMahon considering selling off the company, but these rumors were squashed off by WWE President Nick Khan.
