“The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns currently sits at the top of the SmackDown roster. With the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on his shoulders, Reigns has carried the company on his back for years. From being the top babyface to the ultimate heel, Roman’s trajectory has soared high in the skies. As of 2024, The Head of the Table has been in WWE for over a decade, contributing heavily to the business.

As of February 2024, Roman is 38 years old, having spent a significant amount of time in the wrestling ring. Reigns started his WWE career competing in FCW in 2010 and won several championships. He made his main roster debut pretty early in 2012 at Survivor Series alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose as a part of their faction, The Shield. A few years of tag team action then split them up to witness their dynamic singles run, which highly benefited Roman in the long term.

Starting the journey on his own, Reigns was successful in capturing all the singles championships out there. His career low was in between those years, when fans booed him for being overpushed and a non-entertaining babyface. In late 2018, The Big Dog announced his break from wrestling due to his Leukemia.

The disease gave him sympathy and earned fans’ support in his hard times. However, once he came back, the fans again hated him for his mundane persona. The whole landscape then changed when Reigns returned from a short hiatus and turned heel at SummerSlam 2020.

It all has been in his favor now, as the character is compelling and is getting the needed reactions with a pinch of dominance against his opponents. For more than three years, Roman has portrayed The Tribal Chief gimmick successfully.

Is Roman Reigns heading towards his retirement any soon?

“The Head of the Table” Roman Reigns has been in WWE for 11 years now. The 38-year-old is currently at the peak of his career and is entertaining the WWE Universe with his gimmick. However, the major reason for his potential departure would be his career prospects, leading to his acting career.

The timeline for his possible outing cannot be determined, but his presence can be felt for the next four years at least. Speaking of retirement, Reigns is not even close but has kept his future plans ready once he decides to step down. His essential role in WWE puts him in a place where he has to take care of himself and prolong his in-ring ability.

With the responsibility of being the company’s face, Roman has to sustain his legacy, at least till this decade’s end. A slight decrease in his appearances in the coming years is expected, but the overall goodbye is faraway from now.
