“I will choose my Challenger,” Charlotte Flair reveals her new plans for Wrestlemania

Smackdown Women's Champion

Charlotte Flair is currently the Smackdown Women’s Champion. This is her 13th reign as a World Champion, and there is no other women on the roster who has won as many titles in the company. She is the most successful women in the history of the company and, frankly, it doesn’t seem like she is going to slow down any time soon.

A couple of weeks ago, the Queen announced that she will be entering the Women’s Royal Rumble match. This announcement surprised the WWE Universe as Royal Rumble winners earn a shot at the Championship of their liking at Wrestlemania. Considering Flair already holds the Smackdown Women’s title, participating in the Rumble was a confusing decision.

Initially, it was believed that Charlotte Flair was aiming for becoming a Double Champion. In case she won the Rumble, Flair could’ve gone on to challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania 38. The two Superstars could’ve collided in a Champion vs Champion match in a Winner Takes All match. But that isn’t the case, as Flair revealed her true plans recently.

The latest episode of the Blue brand was kicked off by the Smackdown Women’s Champion, where she clarified that she isn’t aiming to become a Double Champion, as earlier believed. Instead, she aims to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match and chose her opponent for Wrestlemania 38.

With this announcement, the stipulation for Royal Rumble match has seemingly changed. Till the last Royal Rumble, the winner would go after a Championship at Wrestlemania. But now, in case a Champion wins the Rumble, they could choose their challenger for the Showcase of Immortals. This could even open up the possibility of more Champions participating in the matches.

As Charlotte Flair was announcing that she will win the Royal Rumble and choose her own challenger for Mania, more and more Superstars emerged to call out the Champion. Shayna Baszler, Natalya, Aliyah and Shotzi came out to show their confidence heading into the match. But the biggest surprise of the segment was the return of Sasha Banks.

WWE teased the beginning of a feud between Charlotte Flair and Banks. In fact, a brawl broke out between the women and Flair was able to clear the ring, before the Boss stepped in and sent her over the top rope. This provided massive momentum to the current Superstars ahead of the match, which has largely been discussed due to the return of several former Superstars.
