Yesterday night was a huge one for the wrestling fraternity. To begin with, Vince McMahon agreed to a deal with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, to sell WWE. This move would enable the stakeholders and McMahon in particular to make the company private. For the unversed, WWE has been a public-traded organization since 2000. So yes, once this groundbreaking news came out, wrestling Twitter world exploded with massive outrage.

Apparently, all those hot rumblings about WWE’s sale to Saudi Arabia have fizzled down. And as of this morning, those chatters are completely false. According to Ariel Helwani, there’s no such deal in place to any entity, as of the precise hour. This story is developing by the minute and is expected to yield more information as the day progresses. In context to the old rumors, who confidently claimed a sale, they just jumped on the guns way too soon.

To support Helwani’s above report, two other notable sources namely Brandon Thurston and Jon Alba, added their saying. Both of them basically implied that a “higher-ranked WWE source” personally denied any Saudi deal rumors to them. Hence, as things stand, WWE is still not sold to Saudi Arabia and are seeking options for the same, constantly.

Now that the original WWE/Saudi Arabia agreement rumors have been denied, the race continues. Many options are being considered, with Saudi Arabia being one of them. However, on this morning’s CNBC broadcast, Comcast and Endeavor were reiterated as the frontrunners. These names have been circulating for quite some time.

As of writing, there are no additional updates available. However, hang in till the end for the eventual endgame. The bidding war is ongoing and multiple contenders are trying to grab the deal. But still, at the end of the day, it’s Vince McMahon and his marching orders that matter.

The current Executive Chairman of WWE won’t agree to any deal until and unless it benefits him the most. Despite the Saudi hearsay getting shot down, Stephanie McMahon isn’t coming back, and further managerial changes are expected. The WWE Universe is anxiously praying for Paul Levesque, aka Triple H, to retain his spot as Head of Creative.
