Rey Mysterio is one of the most popular professional wrestlers globally. He has played a crucial role in popularizing the cruiserweight wrestling. Despite of not being of massive frame, over the years, the Master of 619 has defeated some of the largest Superstars on the WWE roster. Mysterio had signed with the company way back in 2002.

Mysterio has won the World Heavyweight Championship twice, Intercontinental Championship twice, United States Championship twice and the WWE Championship once. His long list of achievements also includes a win in the 30-Man Royal Rumble match. Even after being in the industry for over three decades, Mysterio performs with the same agility.

Since the last year, Rey Mysterio has started performing with his son Dominik. His focus has shifted from adding more accolades to his name to honing the skills of his son to make him as big a Superstar as him. In fact, Rey and Dominik even became the first-ever father-son Tag Team Champions.

The Master of 619 is now 47 years old. While he may still be as impressive in the ring, as he used to be years ago, there will come a time when he needs to hang his boots. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Mysterio was asked about whether he had considered retiring at any point. Thankfully, Mysterio clarified that he has been enjoying his time currently and has no plans of retiring.

“I think this is the time I’ve been enjoying the most ’cause I get to step in there with my son, I get to guide him, I get to see his growth…I think the moment that I go back and re-watch a match that I have and see myself slowing down, then I’ll say, ‘you know what Rey? Damn, it’s time to hang it up now’,” mentioned Mysterio.

The father-son duo of The Mysterios will be stepping inside the ring to compete in the 30-Man Royal Rumble match. The winner of the his match earns the right to main event Wrestlemania in a Championship match. This is a night where each Superstar performs for themselves. In fact, Rey Mysterio has made it clear that he wouldn’t think twice before eliminating his son.

On the recent episodes of Raw, both the father and the son have sent each other over the top ropes. While Dominik is making his debut in the Royal Rumble matches, Rey Mysterio has won the match once in his career!
