“Would be my honor”: John Cena discusses Peacemaker – Black Adam crossover
The Rock and Cena
John Cena is one of the biggest names in the professional wrestling industry. His stint with WWE kicked off in 2001 and has since become the most successful Superstars in the history of the company. The Leader of Cenation has won 16-World Championships – a record he shares with Ric Flair.
Cena was pushed as the face of the company for nearly a decade. He even led the company to newer markets. But he soon decided to switch careers and made the jump to a career in Hollywood. While initially his acting career wasn’t a blockbuster like his professional wrestling career. But since 2021 he got some massive projects.
But John Cena wasn’t the only one who treaded on this path. His rival from his WWE days. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson followed a similar journey in his career. Even he dominated the WWE (then known as WWF) roster and had then moved on to Hollywood. Today he is among the world’s highest paid as well as the highest earning actors.
But this aren’t the only similarities between their careers. Both, John Cena as well as The Rock, recently became a part of the DC Extended Universe. Cena was signed on to play Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad whereas Dwayne Johnson recently wrapped up filming for his titular role in Black Adam.
Cena recently headlined his own TV series Peacemaker. In an interview with People he was asked about the possible crossover between his and The Rock’s superhero characters. “It would be an honor and a privilege to be able to perform with [The Rock]. I think there still is a passionate marketplace that wants to see him in. But I’m sorry, man, that’s just not my choice so I don’t know. It’s so far beyond me,” mentioned Cena.
John Cena returned to WWE in 2021
At Money in the Bank 2021, Cena made his shocking return to WWE. He immediately challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. It was one of the biggest feuds of the year – with the biggest Face of the company colliding against the biggest Heel on the current roster. The two Superstars feuded for a month and delivered some of the best promos.
They collided at Summerslam 2021 – and Roman Reigns managed to pin John Cena to retain his title. Post this, he did return for a live event at the Madison Square Garden but that was for an untelevised match. Since then he hasn’t been seen on WWE TV, but he has promised to return soon.
