The conclusion to this week’s SmackDown witnessed the return of AJ Styles. After being on the shelf for nearly three months, courtesy of The Bloodline’s sneak attack back in September, The Phenomenal One emerged and took out Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa. After delivering a picturesque Phenomenal Forearm to The Tribal Chief, Styles stood tall with Randy Orton and LA Knight, who were already in the ring.
However, just when everyone thought that AJ Styles was on the same page as Orton and Knight, The Phenomenal One blindsided LA Knight. It was as shocking for The Viper as it was for the folks in attendance last night. Styles then bailed out of the ring and went past The Bloodline, who were in a state of agony. And that’s how the show rolled off-air. One thing’s for sure: AJ Styles wants revenge from The Bloodline, but not at the expense of someone they call The Megastar.
Earlier on the show, Randy Orton and The Bloodline went back and forth on the mic. The Apex Predator made his intentions crystal clear and challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. However, The Tribal Chief asked Orton to get back in line and earn the title shot instead of demanding one.
Just when Roman thought he had successfully managed to get under Randy’s skin, The Head of the Table was shocked when Orton almost RKOed him. In the show’s main event match, The Apex Predator wiped off Jimmy Uso, whom Roman Reigns programmed to get rid of The Viper.
What AJ Styles returning to SmackDown does to the World title picture?
After what transpired in the closing moments of this week’s show, it appears like Roman Reigns will have to go through several opponents. Not only Randy Orton but LA Knight and now AJ Styles are hungry to ebb the Samoan monopoly. Every one of them has a bone to pick with The Bloodline, and they might do so in tandem.
WWE steadily appears to be building towards a Fatal 4-way match for the Royal Rumble. Things are heating up on SmackDown, and Nick Aldis may have to deploy some extra force the next time these proponents stand together in that ring.
The way Styles took out Knight only makes the case far more intriguing. And of course, with Randy Orton on the hunt to avenge the time Roman and his goons took away from him, the fans are in for a treat.
