The last few months have been quite revolutionary for Austin Theory. From winning the Money in the Bank contract to having a failed cash-in. And from considering Roman Reigns as the top performer in the ring to thinking about challenging Roman Reigns for the title, Austin Theory has come a long way.

Theory wasn’t brave enough to try cashing in his briefcase against Roman Reigns. Instead, he decided to take his chance at the United States Championship. But he failed to successfully cash in on Seth Rollins. However, at Survivor Series, he finally won the title by defeating Bobby Lashley as well as Seth Rollins in a triple-threat match.

Austin Theory’s matches with Seth and Bobby gave him unprecedented faith in his capabilities in the ring. He holds both of his opponents in high regard and acknowledges the fact that both of them bring out a new side to his personality and performance. However, the skills that he gains in these matches have a greater purpose.

Theory believes that the experience that he has earned in the ring “helps me catapult myself to being a really fighting contender for that Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.” He also feels that he has changed as a performer, and Roman Reigns would have to deal with a new man inside the squared circle.

The current WWE United States Champion, Austin Theory had been thought of as a very fragile in-ring performer during his Money In The Bank cash-ins. However, as time passed, he not only won the US Championship but also set his sights on the WWE Universal Championship in the upcoming future.

His championship run has given him a lot of confidence, as he tells Sean Ross Sapp. “Absolutely. I’m definitely in an elevated position now,” Theory said. He recalls his performance in last year’s Royal Rumble match. Despite not hating it, he knows that he could make things better.

The Royal Rumble of 2023 wasn’t a very remarkable one for the 25-year-old star. However, his elimination came at the hands of Cody Rhodes. Austin Theory has also made history by walking into the Elimination Chamber as the defending champion, marking the first time the WWE US Championship will be defended in the unforgiving steel structure.
