United States Champion Austin Theory has quietly become one of the longest-reigning champions. Since winning the title in November at the Survivor Series, Theory has had a lackluster run with irregular defenses and cheap victories. However, Austin Theory has left all previous champions behind as the longest-reigning champion in the last ten years.
Theory has been the champion for the last 222 days(as of June 7, 2023). Only Dean Ambrose, a.k.a. Jon Moxley, has had a longer title reign than Theory at 351 days. However, this title reign came ten years ago, in 2013. This is a remarkable feat achieved by the current US Champion. Fans are comparing Theory’s reign with Ambrose’s. The reason behind the comparison was that Ambrose’s reign came during the peak of The Shield.
Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns held the Tag Team Championship with Dean Ambrose’s US Championship. Like Theory, Ambrose also had a lackluster run with irregular title defenses and cheap victories. However, the former WWE star would have a successful career in WWE, winning all the championships during his time in the company.
Ambrose is one of the top stars in All Elite Wrestling under the name Jon Moxley. After debuting in AEW in 2019, Moxley won the AEW World Championship multiple times and had spectacular feuds with the likes of Kenny Omega, Adam Page, CM Punk, and many others. On the other hand, Austin Theory debuted on the main roster in 2021, feuding with John Cena, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Sheamus, and many others.
Austin Theory to defend his title against Sheamus at MSG

WWE is going to the prestigious Madison Square Garden for this week’s SmackDown. Therefore, the company is going all in for the show with all its superstars. The show will feature Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, The Usos, Edge, and many others. It will have a main event segment featuring the members of the Bloodline for the trial of The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns.
Additionally, the show will also feature a United States Championship match between champion Austin Theory and former champion Sheamus. The match was set when Theory defeated Ridge Holland on the go-home episode of SmackDown for MITB.
Since getting drafted to SmackDown, Theory has been feuding with The Brawling Brutes. After wrestling other members of the group, Austin Theory will face Sheamus in next episode of SmackDown.
