Baron Corbin had many accomplishments to his name even before joining WWE. He is a former Golden Gloves boxer and had a football career. In addition to that, Corbin is well-skilled in MMA and is not a person to be messed with in real life. But one person made this mistake and paid the price horribly.
During an appearance on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, The Lone Wolf detailed an incident where someone tried to spar with him in a gym. According to him, things escalated, and he ended up destroying his eye socket and hospitalizing him. At first, Corbin denied the request to spar, but when the guy got out of control, he knocked him down.
I’ll never forget. When I was in there just training on a bag when I was playing football, this guy kept, ‘Hey, man, you wanna spar? We got a heavyweight [that] needs some work.’ I was like, ‘No, I’m good, I’m just training, doing some bag work.’ within 30 seconds, he was trying to kill me. So then I wrecked his entire eye socket.Baron Corbin on the gym incident via Notsam Wrestling
Corbin recently won a gold medal at the Jiu Jitsu World League. He often posts pictures on social media of himself in karate attire. Initially, he wanted to join the UFC but found his way into the world of professional wrestling. Baron Corbin has revived his career with his NXT run. He has constantly been involved in engaging storylines and delivering enthralling matches with some of the best up-and-coming stars.
He has been in WWE for ten years now; his title wins might not speak to how great of a character he is. Many fans believe Corbin deserves some respect after all these years. In his most recent outing, the former US Champion fought Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at NXT: Deadline, but unfortunately failed to capture the title.
Baron Corbin shares his honest opinion about the response from he received from the fans against Gable Steveson
Baron Corbin may be a ‘bad guy’ due to his in-ring character, but fans can’t ignore his loyalty to WWE. In the ten years of his career, he has made a name for himself, and the WWE Universe respects him for it. But on a rare occasion, people cheered for The Lone Wolf and booed the guy who was against him, Olympic wrestling gold medalist Gable Steveson.
While speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, the 39-year-old revealed what he truly felt went down that night. Gable made his debut against Corbin at NXT: The Great American Bash on July 30, 2023. Surprisingly, he was getting a lot of hate from the fans. Corbin addressed this issue by saying Steveson has to make a name for himself.
I had a bit of a gut feeling that it was gonna be a little flipped. If you wanna compare yourself and talk about the gold medal and do all of that, you're never gonna live up because no one is going to be better than Kurt at what he did, no one. He's one of the best in the history of this business.Baron Corbin on Gable Steveson via Notsam Wrestling
In September, it was rumored that Steveson was removed from the NXT roster, questioning his future with WWE. However, Shawn Michaels revealed there have been some scheduling issues, and he will be back when both parties agree. It will be interesting to see who Steveson will fight next when he returns.
