“I wanted to lose,” Becky Lynch reveals how WWE booked her to win a major WrestleMania match against her will

An excerpt from Becky Lynch‘s soon-to-be-released memoir taps into her WrestleMania match against Shayna Baszler. Back in 2020, they locked horns for the Raw Women’s title at the grandest stage. It ended up being a surprising loss for Baszler, who was pegged to dethrone The Man. And in her book, ‘BECKY LYNCH: THE MAN: Not Your Average Average Girl‘, Becky revealed that she wanted to lose.

And that’s not because she was about to embark on her journey into motherhood. Despite Lynch’s refusal, she was booked to get over Shayna. The people in charge didn’t let Shayna Baszler conquer one of the most decorated female superstars in WWE history. As Becky said in her book, she lost even after retaining her gold against The Queen of Spades.

Becky Lynch would then go on to relinquish her title to Asuka, the then-Ms. Money in the Bank. To this date, fans wonder how it would’ve propelled Shayna Baszler into superstardom had she emerged victorious at WrestleMania 36. Moreover, the way she decimated her opponents inside the Elimination Chamber that year to earn herself a title shot went south once she went down when it mattered the most.

Lynch’s maternity hiatus ended when she returned at SummerSlam in 2021. Staged at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, she beat Bianca Belair in just 26 seconds to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. Following her upset win, The Man became Big Time Becks, marking the first time she turned heel in a long time. The EST avenged her ignominy at WrestleMania 38 when she ended Becky’s reign at the top.

Becky Lynch’s road to WrestleMania isn’t a bedlam of roses

Becky has yet another shot at history this year. She’s already punched her ticket to WrestleMania and will face Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World title.

However, the challenger has to do it the hard way. She’ll go one-on-one with Nia Jax this week on Raw. And she’s the same woman who flattened Lynch on Raw: Day 1.

Not only that, The Man seems to have disgruntled Liv Morgan as well. Last week, when the latter went up against Jax, Becky launched herself at The Irresistible Force.

Although the Irishwoman didn’t mean to cost Morgan, she ended up doing so as the bout ended in a disqualification. Backstage, an emotional Liv confronted Becky and said that not everything has to be about her.
