Not less than a week ago, Pro Wrestling Illustrated unveiled the list of PWI 250 Women’s Wrestlers for the year 2023. Rhea Ripley topped the renowned list, while Bianca Belair landed at number 3. Those were the only two WWE female superstars to make it to the top 10. However, the placement of Becky Lynch at 29 didn’t sit well with her fans or Lynch herself.
Big Time Becks recently took to social media to react to her dissatisfying position in the PWI 250. Quoting a user on X who posted her PWI ranking, she wrote, “29 (laughing emojis) …anyway my book “Becky Lynch – The Man: Not Your Average Girl” is available for pre-order now!“. The 36-year-old nonchalantly laughed off seeing her underwhelming placement on the list.
Giving a jocular reaction to her PWI list ranking, The Man commented with a bunch of laughing emojis. It was a sarcastic reply, as Lynch was seemingly flummoxed with her ranking. Furthermore, she filled in a link and reminded her fans that her upcoming autobiography’s presale is underway.
Becky Lynch landing in the disappointing 29th spot pissed off the WWE Universe. Some of the fans even went as far as labeling the list rigged. From match quality to win percentage, several criteria are taken into consideration to determine the ranking. Thus, it is indeed disheartening to see Lynch securing a dismal spot on the list, who has been on a roll lately.
Does Becky Lynch’s current run warrant a better placement in the PWI 250 list ?
This Wednesday, Pro Wrestling Illustrated put out PWI 250, enlisting the top 250 female wrestlers in the world. While only two WWE superstars reached the top 10, Becky Lynch ranked at number 29. This is also the first time in many years that Four Horsewomen were not in the top 10. Lynch’s baffling ranking on the list sparked a heated debate among wrestling fans.
As mentioned above, Becky Lynch found herself securing a spot in the top 30. The evaluation period for the women’s list is from October 2022 to September 2023. Over the last 11 months, Lynch participated in the Women’s WarGames and captured the tag-team titles with Lita.
Moreover, she had a high-profile feud with Hall of Famer Trish Stratus and claimed the NXT Women’s Championship. The Man also officially became a Grand Slam Champion on September 13. Other than that, she was a part of two highly acclaimed women’s matches this year.
First, a classic Steel Cage Match with Trish Stratus at Payback; second, a hard-hitting Extreme Rules match against Tiffany Stratton at No Mercy. Lynch technically met all the required criteria for the PWI list. Thus, it is a bit surprising to see the champ alight on the 29th spot.
