Becky Lynch successfully retained the NXT Women’s Championship at No Mercy. She defeated Tiffany Stratton in a gruesome yet compelling Extreme Rules match in the main event. Despite the well-fought victory, The Man received a huge cut to her arm. As such, Becky Lynch shared the graphic image of the horrific injury on her Instagram account.
The seven-time Women’s Champion reacted to her show-stealing performance and heaped praise on her opponent as well. Moreover, she subtly hinted that she would continue wrestling despite the gnarly injury. “NbeXT was rocking tonight. The Man brought @tiffanywwe to the main event but she brought it to The Man. Respect. It wasn’t Tiffy time this time. But it will be again,” she wrote.
Sean Ross Sapp revealed that Becky Lynch sustained an injury requiring 11 stitches but still finished the bout, showcasing her determination. This isn’t the first time; in 2018, she fought on with a broken nose during a brawl leading to Survivor Series.
Afterward, while Lynch was walking into the crowd, a shot of her with a bloody face ended up being one of the most memorable moments of her career. After her gutsy show at No Mercy, the champion is scheduled to defend the title on RAW against Tegan Nox. The NXT premium live event indeed left scars for The Man to remember.
Becky Lynch expressed her desire for more stars to feature prominently on the main roster. As a result, she plans to defend the championship more frequently in the coming weeks, providing opportunities for young talents on the roster to step up.
Becky Lynch credits Mick Foley as her inspiration to become a wrestler
Becky Lynch is undeniably one of the greatest women’s wrestlers of all time. The Man has accomplished almost everything over the past few years, including headlining WrestleMania. According to her, Mick Foley played a big role in inspiring her to kick off the journey towards becoming a professional wrestler.
While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Becky spoke about watching The Attitude Era while growing up. She claimed that the way Foley always talked on the mic, portraying himself as an underdog, motivated her. “And I could see myself in him like there was just that relationship, that rapport of like, ‘No, you’re not the picture-perfect superstar.’ And so he became my hero,” Becky Lynch said.
Other than Mick Foley, Big Time Becks also credited Lita and mentioned how she was “cool” to watch during the same era. Becky Lynch would end up enduring a similar journey to Foley’s as an underdog on the road to her WrestleMania 35 triumph.
