The Original Bro Matt Riddle was released by WWE in September 2023 along with some big names. Since then, he had not wrestled a single match in any promotion. Now after 4 months, he finally wrestled Jacob Fatu in the promotion called MLW.

Riddle faced Jacob in a singles match at the Kings of Colosseum event on January 6th, Philadelphia. During the match, Commentator Matt Striker was severely impressed by Riddle and could not believe the fact that WWE released a ‘Million Dollar Mega Star’ like him.

Riddle managed to pick up his very first victory after a 4-months hiatus over Jacob. There is no denying that the Original Bro is one of the most technically sound wrestlers in the world, but due to the outside controversies, he was released.

Before his release, he was on one of his best runs with the company, where he teamed up with Randy Orton. They even became Tag Team Champions by beating AJ Styles and Omos at SummerSlam.

MLW World Champion Alex Kane expressed his feelings about Matt Riddle joining the promotion

Matt Riddle made his debut on MLW and defeated Jacob Fatu in his very first match. After Riddle entered into MLW, the MLW World Champion Alex Kane‘s reaction was interesting.

After the Kings of Colosseum show was over, Alex Kane and his manager Mr.Thomas sat down for an interview. When he was asked about his opinion on Riddle’s debut, he said he is looking forward to seeing him in the ring. Alex further added he would be excited to even form a tag team with him in the future. 

Yes, I’m looking forward to it! He’s a solid competitor. He misses the Evolve Wrestling days and traveling together to Allentown. Either I get into the ring with him, or maybe there’s a team-up of some sort? The Assassin and Matt Riddle?!

Alex further expressed his desire to fight another WWE superstar and veteran Shelton Benjamin. With The Original Bro now in MLW, he will be included straight in the title picture and challenge Alex Kane. As of now, Riddle has challenged NJPW president Hiroshi Tanahashi as his debut match through a video promo.
