Big E has not stepped inside the squared circle and has been off WWE TV for over a year now. He suffered a serious neck injury while performing an overhead belly-to-belly on the March 11, 2022, episode of Friday night SmackDown. It was later revealed that Big E had fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrae. The former WWE champion had to undergo multiple treatments ever since then. Big E recently addressed his potential WWE return ahead of WrestleMania 39.
While talking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast recently, Big E provided an update regarding his potential in-ring return. The New Day member started by revealing that he still hasn’t had the one-year check-ups yet. He also disclosed that he has to go for a set of scans during the first week of April when WrestleMania 39 has been scheduled.
Big E also described the nature of his fracture, revealing it to be Jefferson’s fracture. The thought Big E had for return was after three months. However, due to his C1 vertebrae being broken into two places, it took more time than expected. He disclosed that the healing process is good, but the bones need to be properly ossified for taking bumps inside the ring.
The plan is to get more scans at the first week of April, have the doctors review them, and make a decision from there. Your C1 is an important bone and I want to make the best decision health-wise for myself. You don’t want to rush. I’ve been in rehab for nine months, working on strength and range of motion and all of that has been great. That’s where we’re at right now. We’ll get the scans and move on from there”. Big E concluded.

Big E’s road following his potential return to the WWE
Big E has been a singles competitor apart from The New Day faction since 2019 before his hiatus. He became the Intercontinental championship during his singles run and went on to win the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2021, which he cashed in to eventually capture the WWE title.
Considering the injury update provided by Big E, fans should expect him to return after WrestleMania 39. Following the expected return, he might reunite with his New Day buddies, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. However, that also seems uncertain considering Kofi’s recent Ankle injury. Regardless of a singles or tag team run, fans will be delighted to see Big E on WWE TV after a long time.
