Even after a couple of decades from the day Steve Austin was forced to retire from in-ring competition, his name still pops up every time WrestleMania season is on the horizon. Likewise, it appears like WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray wants to tango with The Bionic Redneck. Recently, a fan on X tagged Bully to let him know that WWE has been playing a lot of clips on their shows from Ray’s Broken Skull Sessions with Steve Austin.
Replying to the post, one-half of the Dudley Boyz simply manifested for a Philly Street Fight against The Texas Rattlesnake at WrestleMania 40. Though it sounds dope on paper, the fans should not be mistaken and consider it an actual possibility at this point. First of all, Bully Ray is currently signed to Impact Wrestling. Moreover, Austin, who’s closing in on his 60s, couldn’t just casually go through a street fight.
Though he did make his in-ring return against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38, it’s highly unlikely that Austin would step back into the squared circle ever again. Stone Cold enjoys a wrestling legacy that fellow wrestlers can only dream of. However, the fans would be ecstatic if the 58-year-old decides to have one more match.

WWE offered big money to Steve Austin for giving it a try once again this year at WrestleMania. However, due to his other commitments with A&E, the Attitude Era trailblazer turned down the lucrative offer made to him. He hasn’t been up for a television appearance in a while, and fans would want to see that change.
Is WWE planning Steve Austin vs. CM Punk for WrestleMania 40?
As mentioned above, Steve Austin might not be thrilled to wrestle at this juncture of his career. However, if the money and story were there, Stone Cold might have to reconsider. Having said that, WWE officials are pushing for the Texas Rattlesnake to have one final go against CM Punk.
According to Fightful Select, the subject has been broached, and people in the company are optimistic that the match could happen. Punk and Austin never got to have a match. They showed signs of a feud back in 2013, but the WWE HOF’er was in no shape to get into the ring.
Around a decade later, Austin has shrugged off the injuries that forced him to bid adieu in the first place. If he agrees, a brief rivalry with CM Punk is what the fans would pay to watch.
