Payback was an enjoyable premium live event filled with a lot of moments. One of them was the appearance of John Cena, who was the host for the night. Cena also acted as a backstage interviewer in a hilarious segment on the show. However, Rhea Ripleys alleged ex-girlfriend, Cathy Kelley, the original backstage interviewer, laid down a challenge to the Cenation Leader.

A fan online posted a photo on X of the 16-time World Champion playing the role backstage. Moreover, he captioned with, “I mean I’m a Cathy Kelley fan for sure….but….she’s got some competition now….” Rhea Ripley’s ex-girlfriend was quick to reply to the entire situation.

“If he wants the job, he’s gonna have to fight me for it,” responded Cathy. Evidently, she has sarcastically challenged John Cena for her job. All in all, it was a fun interaction backstage at the premium live event. The Cenation Leader questioned the Judgment Day members, Finn Balor and Damian Priest, after their victory.

Furthermore, he followed the habit of kneeling down while interviewing in the WWE. Earlier in the night, the 16-time World Champion was the special guest referee in the match between The Miz and LA Knight. Also, John ended up endorsing the latter after he emerged victorious in an entertaining scrap.

One of the best moments of Payback was the interaction between John Cena and LA Knight. Ahead of the former’s return, fans speculated on a program between the two superstars. It didn’t take long for the same to happen as the 47-year-old raised LA’s hand, showing him respect.

In a SmackDown post-show interview, Cena claimed that he had a tremendous amount of respect for the Megastar. Furthermore, he praised his trajectory on the main roster. The Cenation Leader added that Knight lives the “Never Give Up” motto and walks the talk.

He finished off by saying, “He does it with his own style and he’s not afraid to be who he is in here [in his heart]. And speaking from someone who started as the Doctor of Thuganomics, I have a lot of respect for that.” Clearly, LA Knight’s impressing a name as big as John Cena shows how far the 40-year-old has risen in the past few months.
