WATCH: WWE unveils the brand-new Women’s Championship for Asuka, gets interrupted by the quintessential return of Charlotte Flair on SmackDown
The Queen doesn't like championship gold being around on someone else's waist. She immediately cut Asuka after she was presented with a brand-new title on SmackDown.
Asuka was interrupted by Charlotte Flair on SmackDown
It’s a new championship season going on right now in WWE. After presenting the brand new World Title designs to Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in previous weeks, it was turn for the women on SmackDown last night. That being said, Asuka became the latest beneficiary from the ongoing new title festival in the company. Ever since Draft assumed complete effect on the rosters, a small but unavoidable flaw was there – the representation of Women’s Championships.
Rhea Ripley, who’s the SmackDown Women’s Champion, was drafted to Raw. On the other hand, Asuka captured the Raw Women’s Title from Bianca Belair at Night of Champions was previously drafted to the blue brand. For nearly a month, that branding was absolutely meaningless as the champions were performing on their opposite brands. However, WWE finally got rid of that problem this week. On the show, Adam Pearce called out The Empress of Tomorrow and handed her a new WWE Women’s Championship.
By the appearance, it’s an exact copy of Roman Reigns’ new Undisputed Title, just replacing the Black stripes with White. Coming back to that segment, Charlotte Flair made her return just after Pearce tied the new gold around Asuka’s waist. She entered the ring and immediately challenged the Japanese wrestler for the title. And of course, please don’t mind a superstar just casually demanding title shots, until and unless its Charlotte Flair.
After uttering a few words in Japanese, Asuka accepted The Queen’s crave for that Women’s Championship. Trying to get the upper hand, Asuka spit that green mist, however, Flair ducked underneath and bounced Asuka’s face on the Championship podium, followed by a big boot. And that’s how the 14-time Women’s Champion stood tall upon her comeback. You can watch the complete drama which unfolded during that segment below.

Charlotte Flair’s Championship match has been made official
WWE never takes long while handing anything to Charlotte Flair. She just have to wait for three weeks to claim her contention for a 15th Women’s Championship reign. So being said, she’ll challenge Asuka for that newly introduced strap on the final SmackDown before Money in the Bank. It’s smart enough on WWE’s part to book an important championship bout for such an electric market like London.
However, lurking in the bushes is Bianca Belair. As seen last night, The EST was promised a title rematch against The Empress of Tomorrow. After Pearce made Flair’s match official, Belair once again went to the WWE on-screen authority figure. However, Mr. Pearce assured the longest reigning Raw Women’s Champion that he’ll eventually figure out a way to do justice with her. Most probably, Bianca will get her rematch at Money in the Bank against the winner of Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair showdown, a night before.
